Virtue of Obscurity

Fasting itself is a hidden act, known only to the worshiper and Allah, reinforcing that true devotion does not seek validation from others. In this sacred month of Ramadhan, we should strive to avoid seeking status or approval, embracing the tranquility of being unnoticed while remaining steadfast in devotion. Ibn Ata’illah reminds us, “Bury yourself in the earth of obscurity, for whatever sprouts before it is buried does not mature.” This Ramadhan, let our prayers, charity, and acts of kindness remain between us and Allah, allowing our souls to grow in the fertile soil of sincerity, untainted by the fleeting gaze of the world.

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Rabbi ighfir warham wa Anta Khairur Raahimeen.

(O my Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the Best of the merciful.)
